Revision Control

Micro-CD Manager can handle up to 256 revisions to a report and associated forms in the same application. For example, over time an invoice form may change from portrait to landscape, or additional information may be added. Most COLD packages require that the user create a separate application to handle the revised document. Micro-CD Manager handles it for them. The user does not have to create separate applications and is not faced with having to know what applications cover the various periods and revisions to retrieve a document as with most COLD offerings. . . With Micro-CD Manager they can search across the applications revisions for information, i.e. all the invoices to client ABC over 3 years, seamlessly.

Information Management And Retrieval

The information that is required to answer the bulk of the inquires should be stored on the local hard drive, for instant access. Information requiring less frequent access is best stored in an optical tower or array that provides near-on-line response. The remaining information, that requires the least frequent lookup, should be stored in a jukebox. This allows for maximum productivity while keeping storage costs to a minimum.

Ease of Use

Micro-CD Manager utilizes Windows features that most users are already familiar with. An experienced user will be able to start using Micro-CD Manager immediately, others can be taught in as little as 10 minutes to perform lookups as well as view and print documents. Other features are also easily learned. The software is constantly being praised for its ease of use.

Set Up

Micro-CD Manager's point and click feature allows set up of an application in as little as 10 to 15 minutes. This is especially important if the client has many applications or anticipates many revisions. Currently, no other COLD product has the set up capabilities of Micro-CD Manager.

Index Extraction

With the masking features available in Micro-CD Manager we can guarantee accurate index extraction every time. With masking we can sample data fields and validate the presence of specific characters to insure the presence of index fields.

Line Item Indexing

Micro-CD Manager has a robust line item, columnar indexing capability that divides the document by each occurrence, i.e. multiple accounts per page. This gives the user immediate access to information without the need to BROWSE or use other time consuming searches that would be necessary without this feature. Micro-CD Manager provides research opportunities that organizations need to compete in today's ever changing markets.

Batch Look-ups

This feature permits the user to accumulate (batch) the search requests so that all searches will be performed at one time. This is particularly useful when auditing accounts or responding to inquiries.

Simultaneous Update & Retrievals

The Micro-CD system monitor runs in the background and automatically updates the database when a report file is available from the host. Should the host fail to download during the evening and reports are delayed, Micro-CD Manager responds by updating the database without precluding user access to the information. The users are never off-line, unless the PC network is down. Most COLD packages do not have this feature.

Print Speeds

Micro-CD Manager frees the workstation on the network in less than one second, providing valuable time for the user to perform other tasks.

Retrieval Speeds

On key index fields, regardless of database size, Micro-CD Manager locates the page matching the search in less than 2 seconds.

Annotations

Micro-CD Manager offers the user the option of attaching notes to a specific data page.

Dynamic Font Capability

Fonts on the summary list or the document display can be changed to satisfy the users needs.

Simulated Green bar

To aid in viewing documents, a simulated green bar presents the viewer the document in a form similar to the original.

Highlighting of Search Criteria

The criteria used to locate a document will cause the record in which the search criteria appears to be highlighted in a user selectable color.

Media Independence

Data may be stored on magnetic hard drives, worm, remittable, multifunction optical drives or CD-R media.

Multiple Forms

Micro-CD will handle multiple forms in an application. Users can view credit memos together with invoices.

Export Feature

Summary page information, document groups, pages or line item detail can be exported as ASCII text to any windows application.

Sorting

After the search is initiated utilizing the primary index keys a summary page is created showing all matches resulting from the search. When the search initiated is broad, the summary page can contain many matches. Micro-CD Manager provides a quick sort of the information on the summary page for ease of use after a search.

Full Text Search

In addition to the primary index keys, Micro-CD Manager offers full text search capability of documents found on the summary page. This feature permits searches for strings of characters and/or numbers that would not be practical to index.
